TT Transatlantic Crossing |
Go South 'til the Butter Melts Sailors have been crossing the Atlantic for hundreds of years, sailing south along the coast of Africa before reaching the trade winds and turning west towards the Americas. In 2019, John Cobb was fortunate enough to crew on a sailboat that completed a 21-day passage from the Canary Islands to St. Lucia, following the route taken by those ancient mariners. In his presentation “Go South ‘til the Butter Melts”, John combines photos and video to tell the story of his Atlantic crossing. From trip preparation to life aboard, his presentation focuses less on the mechanics of sailing and more on what it’s like to prepare for, and experience, sailing beyond the sight of land.
