MEDIEVAL HISTORY: UNDERSUNG HEROES
**Full with Waitlist**

History is filled with not so well-known characters. In these sessions we will look at the lives of four contrasting heroes who deserve recognition: Hilda of Whitby - a 7th century abbess of great influence who fostered learning and religious leadership; Athelstan - a 10th century warrior king who was the first monarch of all England; Hereward the Wake - a celebrated rebel at the time of the Norman Conquest; and Matilda of Scotland - a feisty Anglo-Saxon princess, born in 12th century Scotland but who became an influential Queen of England.

The talks are based on what is known, believed or wished for. However, the history is provided with a light touch and a sprinkle of humour.
