Medieval History: The First Crusade - Session #2
Few events in history are told with such enthusiasm and error as the crusades. These three sessions will investigate the background and reality of the First Crusade. Starting in 1095, why did thousands of men, with some women, set out for Jerusalem? Who were they and how did they survive the long campaign from Christendom (Western Europe) to the Levant (Middle East)?
Although there is desperation, brutality and death to be recognized, information on the First Crusade will be provided with a light touch and even some admiration.
