CALL is now offering this weekly walking Interest Group while following COVID-19 relaunch protocols with some additional measures for this activity.
Please read the Protocols below ***
Theme: Enjoy a variety of walks while engaging in conversation with fellow CALL members, discovering new pathways and observing the natural and built environment within our city.
How: A limit of 8 people including the leader will be pre-registered for each walk. To accommodate more CALL members and to provide a variety of levels of walking, leaders will provide several walks each week.
Once you have registered for this new Interest Group, you will receive the weekly offerings from which to choose and to pre-register. Offerings will be emailed to registered Interest Group members on Thursdays. The pre-registration will close on Sundays after which time the leader will confirm your place by sending the meeting place details for the walk. Registration will be on a first come first serve basis. Once a walk is “full” the leader will keep a wait list or you may chose from another unfilled walk.
Morning Walks: 10 - 12:00 Noon
Afternoon Walks: 1:30 - 3:30 PM
Everyone is asked to arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior. Please be dressed for varying winter weather conditions. As you know, Calgary weather can change at a moment's notice. Walks for the most part will be planned to travel on city pathways usually cleared, however icy spots can be unpredictable so poles and icers are a good accompaniment.
Weather cancellation policy: If Environment Canada website predicts at the start time of the walk temperature of -15 Celsius or -20 C windchill, check email for an eblast from the facilitator, Blair Pierce who will advise if the walk is cancelled.
