Belize and Maya

Learn about Modern Belize and Ancient Maya from the presenter's extensive travels, work and volunteer experiences.

From being in Africa he became interested in pre-historic movement of people and returned to the University of Calgary to obtain a Degree After in Archaeology.  In 1991 he went to Belize as a volunteer for four years helping cooperatives with projects such as pig-raising, poultry, chick hatchery, leatherwork, mahogany tanning, pepper harvest, sewing, day care and school construction for refugees.  He would do economic analysis of projects and conduct year end evaluations for the groups.  While in Belize he would write back weekly to friends stories of his adventures, misadventures, animal encounters and concerns with environmental issues.  He has been back to Belize several times, most recently in 2019.
