Welcoming Syrian Refugees to Calgary
Sam Nammoura and Saima Jamal, co-founders of Calgary Immigrant Support Society, will focus on how, after the Syrian refugee crisis, local communities created warm welcomes for refugees coming to Calgary. They will demonstrate how this initiative created a reciprocal benefit for everyone and inspired change across Canada. They will also share experiences of refugees and show how, through meaningful, personal interactions, the fears that we hold of the “other” evaporate.
