Great Directors: Contemporary Quebec Cinema

The group will view and critique six films: Alfred Hitchcock’s I Confess (1953); Robert Lepage’s Le Confessional (1995); Jean-Marc Vallée’s C.R.A.Z.Y. (2005); Bernard Emond’s La Donation (2009); Denis Villeneuve’s Incendie (2010); Louise Archambault’s Gabrielle (2013);

The objective is for members to increase their understanding and appreciation of the collaborative art of filmmaking and to expand their knowledge of the work of these acclaimed women directors.

The facilitators will provide a framework for appreciating each film and Individual members of the group may assume responsibility for leading the discussions.

*Registration: limited to 12. To register or get on the waiting list email: tseiler@ucalgary.ca.  Participants must indicate whether or not they will be attending each session, and those on the waiting list will be contacted whenever space is available. 

Group size 5-12.

If the group gets to about 12 people regularly attending, we will likely establish a wait list and explore starting a second group.
