Black and White to High Definition:
Fifty Four Years in Television Journalism

Television journalist, Darrel Janz, grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan and began his career as a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse. From these beginnings, he went on to become a broadcast journalist, working in various parts of Canada before settling in Calgary, where he became well known for anchoring and co-producing CTV News at 6:00 from 1973-2010, and CTV Weekend News from 2010-2013. Darrel also taught journalism for many years at SAIT and at Mount Royal College.

Darrel will talk about the changes he has seen and the major stories he has covered over his long and fascinating career. He will also discuss the fun he is having late in his career profiling Inspired Albertans.
