Ideas, Lives, and Milieus 3

ILM is an interest group that discusses a single nonfiction book over a number of sessions. Previously this group discussed The Existential Café and Homo Deus. This fall the group will be discussing Enlightenment Now by Steven Pinker. This book argues that human progress is dependent on reason, science, and humanism. It shows how human life has improved under this rubric and it makes a vigorous plea for its continuation.

All participants are expected to share their insights and criticisms of the book during each session. Individual participants are expected to volunteer to lead the discussion on a book chapter basis.
