This group will read and discuss several short works on spiritual liberation — or what is called “moksha” in the Indian philosophical tradition of Advaita Vedanta. This philosophy holds that the individual soul is one with the oversoul. A fundamental tenet is “Tat Twam Asi,” or “Thou art That.” God, in other words, is to be found within.

To help achieve this goal, the facilitators will describe and lead the practice of the “Who Am I?” meditation developed by 20th-century Indian mystic Ramana Maharshi. This meditation helps still the mind and bring peace.

Many of the works are free on the web. Participants will be asked to prepare and present a 10- to 15-minute presentation on a topic selected from a list of Advaita topics.
