Speaker's Bio:

Dr. Davi Rumel had a professional life in two countries: Canada and Brazil as a public health physician specialist with a PhD in Epidemiology. He was an adjunct professor at the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary between 1993 and 2000 and full professor at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, between 1983 and 1992. From 1995 to 2000, he worked for the Calgary Regional Health Authority as the Leader of Health Assessment. In 2000 he moved back to Brazil, to work at Anvisa, an agency equivalent to US Food and Drug Agency. On this occasion he was supervisor of the Drug Registry area and was responsible for the implementation of a new regulatory framework for drug products. Upon his return to Canada in 2007, he worked as an epidemiologist at the Health Quality Council of Alberta. Moving back to Brazil he worked from 2011-2014 managing a primary care network. From 2015 to 2020 he came back to teaching as Professor of a Faculty of Medicine and managing the project HealthRise (prevention of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases) in Brazil. Currently he is a grandparent in Calgary and a member of CALL.
