This City of Calgary website will be a common resource for us.

Everyone is asked to arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior and be ready to leave by 10:00 am. Please be dressed for varying winter weather conditions. As you know, Calgary weather can change at a moment's notice. Hikes for the most part will be planned to travel on city pathways usually cleared, however icy spots can be unpredictable so poles and icers are a good accompaniment. A sign-in sheet with an emergency contact request will be circulated by the leader at the beginning of each walk.  This list will be carried throughout the walk (in case of emergency).

Regular participants will be asked to research and lead a walk or two during the season. This will include providing parking and meeting place information and a place nearby which the group can meet after the hike for coffee or lunch to socialize.

An email will be sent out each week advising location of the walk and the leader.  Participants should receive this email by Sunday in advance of the walk. Those walking do not need to respond, rather to ensure they are on time.

In the case of predicted temperature at aim of walk (10:00 am) of minus 15C actual or minus 20C with wind chill, the hike will be cancelled.  An email will be sent out to all registered participants by 8:00 am the morning of the hike if the hike that morning is cancelled.

A good reference for predicted weather is the Environment Canada app or on your computer: https://weather.gc.ca/city/pages/ab-52_metric_e.html

We look forward to another interesting season of companionship and exercise.
