Shakespeare - Othello

Othello is the second of 3 plays exploring the theme of jealousy, a fearful anxiety of losing someone’s affections to another.  It seems to grow out of personal insecurities and feeds on fear of loss of reputation and self-esteem.  As we see in Shakespeare, a character driven by this emotion can lose control and fall into obsession leading to tragedy.  In Othello, ‘the maddening change is from the best’.
