Whither Democracy Egalitarianism or Authoritarianism?

In this very important and timely event CALL will bring together four panelists to discuss their unique perspectives on preserving democracy in Alberta.

Judy Johnson is a retired clinical psychologist and Professor Emerita, Mount Royal University, who’s concerned about the march of authoritarianism across western democracies. She will profile the personality features of authoritarian political leaders.

Susan Wright, a retired lawyer who spent the bulk of her career in the energy sector, will discuss the rule and role of law in a functioning democracy.

Gillian Steward, a journalist and professor of journalism at Mount Royal University, will address the topic of the role of the media.

Dr. David Swann is a retired physician and former Medical Officer for Health, Palliser. As a four-term MLA, he will discuss the impact of politics on democracy.
