UBass/Bass Guitar Beginner Practice Group
This group is intended to provide follow-up skills practice and development for those who have taken a few entry level bass lessons. The purpose of the group is to give attendees an opportunity to further practice their basic skills in a supportive, non-judging setting so that their bass playing will become more fluid. It is intended to facilitate those who wish to take advantage of opportunities to play bass in the CALL uke jams.
Participants will be canvassed for song ideas. Chords and lyrics for approx. 3 new songs from the lot will be forwarded by the facilitator to the group at least 8 days in advance of the next session so that participants can think about bass lines and patterns that may be used. At the group session, ideas for each new song will be discussed and practiced as a group. If time permits, songs learned previously will be played “just for fun”! TAB may also be used in cases where a song-specific bass line is evident. Participants will either take turns playing rhythm on uke or guitar while the rest play the bass part, or the bass group will play along with recordings.
