In her talk, Sarah Meilleur will address Calgary Public Library’s vision of Potentials Realized, and its goal of ensuring that every member of our community can thrive, now and in the future. The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic have increased the importance and impact of lifelong learning because of the number of pivots, adjustments, and adaptations every organization and individual has had to make. On December 7th at 1pm, learn how Calgary Public Library has, and will, foster community resilience through its values of inclusion, curiosity, and collaboration, and through programs, services, and experiences that promote lifelong learning. Sarah Meilleur is the CEO of Calgary Public Library. Librarianship is a profession where you are constantly learning and being both inspired and called to action, as your community adapts and changes. In Sarah’s working life she led the completion and opening of Calgary’s new Central Library. She also believes in supporting the community through volunteering and she served as the vice-chair for the Calgary Heritage Authority and participated in the Century Homes Calgary project. She was the recipient of Avenue Magazine’s Top 40 under 40 award in 2011. Sarah is passionate about the ways in which public libraries transform lives and she works to foster curiosity, innovation, and fantastic visitor experiences.
