Connecting to Inner Peace and Joy

Many ancient traditions teach that you have an inner source of uncaused peace and joy. The easiest way to connect to this source is through meditation and its sister practice, mindfulness. Over 40 years of scientific research have clearly demonstrated there are significant social and health benefits to these practices.
In this course we will explore the ideas behind these ancient practices, and the modern understandings about how and why they work on both your inner and outer world. Each session will include a period of meditation (sitting comfortably in chairs) to allow participants the opportunity to experience the benefits for themselves.
The objective of this program is not understanding or belief, but rather direct experience. The experience will be a familiar one – rediscovering what you did not know you had lost.

Connecting to this inner source has great value in life, but it also has great value when facing the end of life.
The January 23 session of Connecting to Inner Peace and Joy will have a guest speaker, Bob Pyle. Bob’s partner, Carol, recently died of breast cancer. Join us this evening as Bob shares his experience of supporting Carol as she chose to have a conscious death, present to her inner awareness, her inner source of peace and joy.
Carol was an architect who worked with her clients to create holistic, conscious homes that had heart appeal. She also was a published poet, potter, gourmet cook and dog lover.
Bob worked in social services where he developed and managed programs which served some of society's most vulnerable individuals.
Bob and Carol were both long term meditators who shared a deep love and reverence for nature.
