Lunch and Learn:
Thursday, June 6, 2019
Our last session until the fall is the popular tour of the Reader Rock Garden followed by lunch at the Reader Café.
Reader Rock Garden Historic Park is one of Calgary's most unique cultural landscapes featuring the restored Reader house (that contains Reader's Garden Café), rock pathways, bridges, benches and beautiful flowers. Its restoration was completed in 2006 and earned an official designation as a Provincial Historic Resource. In 2018, the garden was designated as an official national historic site.
For more information on the Reader Rock Garden, please visit the website:
The Garden and Cafe are located at the corner of Macleod Trail & 25th Ave SE, directly across from Erlton Stampede C-Train Station. Two small parking lots (free of charge) are located at the base of the hill off 25th; additionally 2 handicap parking stalls (permits required) are available behind the Café (accessed from Spiller Road, thru Union Cemetery).
The tour guides will meet us at 9:45 am in the parking lot with the tours (in groups of 10) beginning promptly at 10 am. Lunch will be in the Reader Café at 11:30 am. Participants are responsible for the cost of the meal which will be ordered off the lunch menu.
Please note that the Garden is situated on a hillside, with uneven terrain and stone pathways so wearing comfortable walking shoes is essential. The tours are not cancelled for inclement weather so come prepared.
The event will be limited to 30 participants. Please register no later than May 30. Click here to go to the registration page. You must be a CALL member to register for this event. For the June calendar click here
