Chinatown - Ron Beugin

The Cultural Significance of Calgary's Changing Chinatown

Our first Lunch and Learn for Fall 2018, a tour of Chinatown, will be followed by lunch at the Silver Dragon 106 3rd Avenue S.E.

Come and visit this culturally distinct neighbourhood with a two hour walking tour lead by Ronald Lee. Our guide for the walk is a retired high school English teacher who has lead walks for over two years in Chinatown for the Calgary Historical Society. Ron is invested in the preservation of Chinatown and served for two years  on the Calgary Chinatown Task Force for the Redevelopment of Chinatown.

More information on the history of Calgary's Chinatown is available at the 100 Anniversary Yearbook of the Lee Association of Calgary

Date: Thursday, October 11

Location: Meet for the walk in the foyer of the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre, 197 1st Street, S.W.

Time: 9:45 AM

Lunch will held after the walk at the Silver Dragon, 106 3rd Avenue S.E. The restaurant is located at the top of a flight of stairs and cannot be accessed by elevator. Participants will be responsible for the cost of their meal either lunch, ordered from the lunch menu, or dim sum.
