A Tour, Lecture and Lunch at the Avatamsaka Monastery

The Avatamsaka Monastery is a branch of the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association in Alberta. The members of the association came to Calgary in 1985 establishing a Monastery in Ramsay. In 1996 the Avatamsaka Monastery moved to the current location on the edge of the downtown district.

Dharma Realm Buddhism was founded by the Venerable Master Hsuan Hua and exists to promote Buddhist ideals. To promote these ideals, the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association emphasizes four major activities including Sangha (gathering of ordained monks and nuns), translation of scriptures, education and personal development.
