This is an advanced study group for those who finished A Look at Islam series. Islam 201 will be applying the theoretical/historical knowledge acquired in A Look at Islam into studying how Islamic beliefs and practices play out in contemporary lives. Topics covered will be decided on by participants and will include topics such as: Islam and women, Islam and culture, Media-inflated topics of the day, Islamic spirituality and ethics. There will be guest speakers from different Islamic sects as well.
Note: This group is only open for members who took A Look at Islam. Late registrants are welcome.

Joud Shafiq has a Ph D in the area of molecular genetics, a higher diploma in Islamic studies and a masters in comparative religions. She taught in both areas of religion and science and is currently an instructor at U of C Continuing Education.
