Strength from Struggle: Caregiving Stories to Change Your Mind

A caregiver / author / story teller from BC and a caregiver / author /drama professor from The University of Calgary are teaming up for an afternoon of readings and story sharing about family caregiving in Alberta. Janet Dunnett wrote a memoir called The Dwindling: A Daughter’s Caregiving Journey to the Edge of Life after she and her twin sister finished caring for their parents through frail old age. Clem Martini and his brother Olivier grappled with the special challenges faced when the caregiver also needs care. Their book is called The Unravelling: How our caregiving safety net came unstrung and we were left grasping at threads, struggling to plait a new one.

Both authors are brimming with insight about the need for greater awareness of the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead in quality care at the end of life.
