Geocaching 101

Geocaching 101 is a seven session, open-learning ‘course’ where participants explore the real-world treasure hunting game of geocaching.

Through discussion and benefit of the participants, this course may lead to physically searching for geocaches in a future interest group.

Adventurers will:

• learn about geocaching; its terminology, history, and trackables
• discover why people geocache
• experience a world-wide outdoor activity using their smart phone with the geocaching app
• find a geocache near them
• investigate readily available resources to enhance their personal understanding and skill

How: A limit of 20 people will interact virtually on a guided path to find the treasures geocaching has to offer.

Once you have registered for this course, you will receive:

  • a weekly Zoom Meeting invitation via email
  • a weekly, printable notification of the contents of the upcoming lesson with a listing of resources to explore and a point-form review of the previous lesson.
Each lesson is designed to build on the previous therefore, participants are asked to be committed for all seven sessions.

Method: Zoom Meeting format, possibly using Breakout Rooms

When: Thursday March 4,11,18 ,25, April 1, 8, 15
Time: 7:30 - 9:00PM, please login 10 minutes prior to meeting
