Film Noir 2019
This is a 7-part series of Film Noir classics from the 1940s and 1950s.
Film Noir 2019 is the second installment of the Film Noir Movie Series launched at the Globe Theatre in winter 2018. Film Noir is a term that describes American B&W films made in the 1940s and 1950s that deal with desire, murder, and money.
The films are open to the public. If time permits the facilitator will lead a discussion after the screening.
CALL members who sign up for this interest group will receive an email with the dates and films we will be viewing as well as an email before each screening with suggested readings about the film.
The films are screened at the Globe Theatre on $5 Tuesdays (7 p.m. screening)
Specific dates are: January 8, January 22, February 5, February 19, March 12, March 26, and April 9, 2019.
The Globe Theatre is located on 8th Avenue between 5th and 6th streets S.W. There is both on-street parking and a Calgary Parking Authority Parkade nearby.
The minimum registration is 25 and the maximum is 100. There is no waiting list.
The facilitator is George Melnyk, Prof. Emeritus,of Communication, Media and Film at University of Calgary.
